METS AND KID FITNESS TEAM UP FOR "KID FITNESS EDUCATION DAY AT SHEA" APRIL 25 AT 11 A.M. PRIOR TO GAME AGAINST ROCKIES

More than 5,000 Kids to Participate in Program Aimed at Combating Childhood Obesity

FLUSHING, N.Y. April 18, 2007 - The New York Mets and Kid Fitness, public television's award-winning health and fitness show for children, will host more than 5,000 students from New York City elementary and middle schools for "Kid Fitness Education Day at Shea" Wednesday, April 25 at 11 a.m. prior to the Mets' game against the Colorado Rockies.

"Kid Fitness Education Day at Shea" is an interactive program that combines physical activity and nutrition components, along with a 'Healthy Game Plan for Life' program, to keep children physically fit in order to help fight childhood obesity.

The Kid Fitness cast and Mr. Met will lead students in a physical activity program that follows NASPE (National Association for Sport and Physical Education) guidelines. Students will warm up and participate in exercises including hip rotations, wishbone stretches, seated squats, baseball swings, shoulder stretches, isometric chest presses and overhead arm stretches. Students will be randomly selected to join Mr. Met and Kid Fitness to participate in the Kid Fitness 'Fun Fitness Break' - a seven-minute physical activity program used in elementary school classrooms throughout the entire New York City school system.

Mike Herbst, assistant trainer for the Mets, will discuss how Mets players use the 'Healthy Game Plan for Life' program - the core of good fitness and nutrition - to achieve a healthier lifestyle for success on and off the field. To further reinforce this concept, an interactive Q&A session will follow. In addition, teachers will receive a 'Healthy Game Plan' program to incorporate into the classroom and to hand out to each student as a useful guide to integrate into their everyday lives. Kids will also get a glimpse into television magic as Kid Fitness and his puppet friend Buster demonstrate how the visual effects behind Green Screen technology works.

"We recognize the responsibility of educating children on the values of regular physical activity and proper nutrition," said Jon Reese, President and CEO, Kid Fitness LLC. "Thanks to the Mets, 'Kid Fitness Education Day at Shea' will deliver this message to thousands of students in an entertaining way and advance our mission to inspire children to lead healthier lives."

"We are proud to partner with Kid Fitness to launch 'Kid Fitness Education Day at Shea,'" said Dave Howard, Executive Vice President, Business Operations, New York Mets. "This special event provides a new way for our team to reinforce our connection with area school students to heighten awareness of a socially relevant issue within the context of sports and entertainment."

"Kid Fitness Education Day at Shea" is the latest extension of the "Kid Fitness for Schools" program which launched in late February into more than 9,750 elementary classrooms in New York City. This national program, which helps schools fulfill federally mandated wellness policies, is being delivered to all pre-kindergarten through second grade classrooms throughout the five boroughs.

Kid Fitness delivers a comprehensive program through its interactive public television series, website and school programs, all of which have a mission to engage, educate and inspire children to make healthy choices on their own regarding physical activity and nutrition at home, at school and at play. The live, interactive television series, for two-to-eight year olds, features a super health hero and his animal friends on a tropical jungle set. Shot in High Definition, each episode incorporates movement, healthy recipes, nutrition tips, original music and edu-adventure storylines designed to get children moving and developing healthy habits to help prevent sedentary lifestyles, obesity and health related issues. Kid Fitness programs are supported by NASPE. Thirteen new episodes are now available to PBS stations nationwide.
